Get your weekend started at check-in and the Family Weekend Welcome Lounge! Pick up your name badge (required for all events), bag, and other Family Weekend goodies before heading out for the weekend. Stop in for a beverage or if you have questions. Students can pick up their families’ items before they arrive.

Stop by Cornell Housing in 1520 Clara Dickson Hall to view a gradient map of where all the residents in Cornell Housing call home. Students and Families will also be able to mark a blank map showing where they are from. Participants will also have the opportunity to talk with Cornell Housing representatives about Cornell Housing and upcoming housing selection processes.

Sustainability Walk
Join Cornell Outdoor Education for a 1-2 mile guided tour of Cornell Campus' sustainability initiatives! We will traverse a mix of landscapes on Cornell campus, including trails, sidewalks, grassy areas and there will be lots of stairs. We'll keep a slow to moderate pace, stopping often to tell stories and point out sustainable designs in nature, architecture and more. The walk takes about 1.5 hours. Cornell Outdoor Education instructors are on hand to guide the adventure, no experience necessary. Space is limited. Must register in advance! Wear closed toed shoes or sneakers; drink and snack recommended. Minimum age 8 year. The cost is $15 per person and you'll get an email after you sign up to make a payment. Questions? Explore the College of Architecture, Art, and Planning during this informal open house experience. Families are invited to visit with their student, explore AAP's inspiring learning environments, and see firsthand where students create, collaborate, and learn. Take a self-guided tour of our studios, classrooms, galleries, and shared spaces, including the newly renovated Sibley Dome, the Green Dragon Café, and other highlights throughout the college. Whether your student works in a studio, lab, classroom, or collaborative space, this is a wonderful opportunity to experience the AAP community together. Be sure to stop by the Welcome Station in Sibley Hall, Room B56, where Student Services staff will be available to answer questions, share campus resources, and help you make the most of your Family Weekend visit. Join the Arts and Sciences Career Development staff for casual conversation. Stop by to ask questions about the services we provide and how we can assist your student. The office supports students in major/career exploration, résumé writing, interview preparation, internship and full-time job search strategies, job offer acceptance and negotiation, graduate school application, and the pre-law graduate school processes. The office also connects students with employers and alumni from all industries to help them make informed decisions about their career paths.

Curator Tour of Fernando “Huanchaco” Gutiérrez: Checán Stereo
Join us at the Johnson Museum of Art on Friday, September 25 at 1:00pm for a curator-led tour of the exhibition Fernando “Huanchaco” Gutiérrez: Checán Stereo. In this installation by Peruvian artist Fernando “Huanchaco” Gutierrez, reproduction of words in the extinct Indigenous language of Muchik and a video showing the Peruvian North Coast landscape forces a reconnection of ancient Moche sculptures (400–850 CE) with their origins. These sculptures, removed from their archaeological context, have not only lost their original histories but also their meanings and cosmological connections. The exhibition links past and present, inviting the public to consider the complexities of displaying these ancient objects.

Staff from the Skorton Center for Health Initiatives will share how Cornell supports student well-being and how students can move beyond simply "getting through" to flourishing. Families will learn about common stress patterns, strategies students use to build resilience and self-compassion, and when and how to encourage connection to campus resources—while reinforcing independence and healthy help-seeking.

Sustainability Walk
Join Cornell Outdoor Education for a 1-2 mile guided tour of Cornell Campus' sustainability initiatives! We will traverse a mix of landscapes on Cornell campus, including trails, sidewalks, grassy areas and there will be lots of stairs. We'll keep a slow to moderate pace, stopping often to tell stories and point out sustainable designs in nature, architecture and more. The walk takes about 1.5 hours. Our Learning by Leading students will share information on the natural and cultural history of coffee and host a pop-up houseplant sale! Park at the Nevin Welcome Center or come on foot; the Nevin Welcome Center is a fifteen-minute walk from many points on campus.
Cornell Botanic Gardens Highlights Tour
Take a relaxing stroll with a Garden Guide through the gardens around the Nevin Welcome Center and discover the beauty and diversity of our cultivated plant collections. Visit the Robison Herb Garden, Young Flower Garden, Bowers Rhododendron Collection, Shady Groundcover Collection, tropical container display, and more. This tour will be a unique experience, as we observe what's growing in the gardens’ during this time of year. Tours are offered rain or shine but may be cancelled in the event of severe or hazardous weather. Please come prepared for the weather.
